Finding free images online to infuse to your important article is quite a challenge in an online photography world riddled with publishing rights and royalties. But more so when you take yourself to the very challenge of the street life in capturing these required images. Street photography is not for the faint of heart. It involves a keen eye for detail infused with patience and persistence. We can learn so much from a street photography blog as detailed in some street photographers’ experiences online. But the best way to actually “feel it” is to do it yourself. Just like what I have done two months ago.
Lounging in an outdoor café with my Nikon D7000, it takes a lot of patience and persistence to find that perfect shot for my essay which, by the way, is due tomorrow. All I did is aim, click and shoot from all directions—above, under, eye level, corners, intersections, hip level, and so on. It was an exhilarating feeling to be somewhat involved in other people’s activities without really being physically there walking side-by-side with them or trying to run off a red light or trying to hail a cab or walk a dog or simply just whiling their time away on a sidewalk or on a corner café. Now, I am a certified street photography aficionado with a penchant for capturing the everyday street life into action. Armed with my power lens, I am continually scouring for new places and unique abodes to snap at reality and create dreamlike and surreal photographs to empower the imagination. Who would have thought that it only takes a simple essay requirement to start a life!
